Like many of you no doubt, I have donated to a number of charities in response to bush fire relief, I have been looking to do more on a local level.
I live in South Australia, so I wanted to make an effort locally, specifically Kangaroo Island simply because of it's isolation. Tourism came to a grinding halt with the bush fire tragedy, with almost 2/3 of the island burnt no-one is visiting, it was a place frequently visited when tourists arrive in South Australia, accessed by a vehicle ferry and light aircraft. It was a stop for cruise ships, with local markets operating to cater very well to visitors.
I researched businesses that I could support and came across KI & Co, a business established by a mother and daughter duo in 2015, they are artisans creating hand made earrings, necklaces and scarves to name a few, proudly an official ‘Australian Made’ licensee for the full range of leather and porcelain products, artwork prints, Kangaroo Island t-shirts, Kangaroo Island activity books and Kangaroo Island magnets.
I have bought in a range of hand made light weight leather earrings, cut into leaf shapes in genuine Kangaroo leather using stunning colour combinations, designed for pierced ears using Hypoallergenic surgical steel hooks, they are beautiful and something quite unique.
This is going to help, as I have already purchased these, so my money is on Kangaroo Island, no admin fees, no fear of is the money going to those who need it. As a double bonus, for the month of January, KI & Co is donating 20% of sales to the Kangaroo Island Bushfire appeal and Wildlife recovery fund.
I hope that you like what you see and are able to support this by purchasing a pair, you can view the range here: Handmade leather earrings.
Thanks for listening!
Until next time
